Indian Food and Wine Pairing at Albury Vineyard

The perfect class to spice up your taste buds! We are back at Albury Vineyard in the Silent Pool to co-host another food and wine event with vineyard owner Nick and wine host Sumi.

The event will begin with a glass of award-winning Albury Estate sparkling and a welcome from vineyard owner Nick, followed by a simple, interactive session designed to demonstrate the principles of food and wine matching. From there on into learning about how spices like cumin, coriander and pepper and tamarind flavours can change the way we taste wine. Equipped with this knowledge, you will be ready to explore into your journey of Wine tasting with Indian cuisine!

Sumi will be arranging appetisers and savoury nibbles from North of India for you to sample, discussing their recipes and showing you how you can spice up your kitchen with some basic ingredients to create simple yet fulfilling and delicious Asian flavours at the convenience of your home. As ever, Jeremy will be on hand to match the delicious foods with a selection of 6 different wines including some from Albury Vineyard.

The samples you will taste will broadly cover:

  • Vegetable Samosa
  • Seekh or Shaami kebabs (made from minced meat)
  • Chicken Tikka rolls

The recipes for these can be acquired locally and will showcase stunning, fresh and vibrant flavours of North Indian cookery as covered in the states of Punjab and Kashmir.

Alongside taster plates of all three of Sumi’s delicious dishes will be samples of 6 wines, each chosen to complement and wash down the Indian spices. Crisp Albury Estate sparkling, elegant English rosé, a dry Australian Riesling and off dry Pinot Gris from New Zealand we will also pair the food with two lovely reds a fruity Pinot Noir and a Malbec.
